ALCO RSD-1

Built 2/1943 for USATC, specification E1645 for use on the Trans Iranian Railroad on light rail. Builder number: 70671. Road Number: 8050. Basically, an RS1 with C-C trucks for better low speed traction and weight distribution. Since the generator and electricals were originally for B-B trucked engines, they had poor high speed performance. Returned to States June 1945.

Turbocharged McIntosh & Seymore 539T prime mover, GE GT553 generator, GE 731D traction motors, Westinghouse 14EL air brake, Westinghouse 3CD compressor, plain bearings. Weak battery pack. Cooling water piping needs repair.
